Cookie Policy

A plain-English description of what Venqo.ai stores in your browser and why.

Draft — lawyer review required before launch

This document is a v1 template tailored to Venqo's actual data flows. It has not yet been reviewed by qualified counsel. Legal entity and jurisdiction are placeholders pending incorporation.

1. Overview

This Cookie Policy explains what cookies and similar technologies Venqo.ai uses on the Venqo website, the merchant dashboard, and the shopper widget embedded on a merchant's storefront. It is a companion to our Privacy Policy.

We group the technologies we use into three categories: essential, analytics, and marketing. Essential technologies are always active because the Service cannot run without them. Analytics and marketing technologies are only activated with your consent, which you set via the cookie banner or the preferences link in the site footer.

2. Essential (always on)

These are required for authentication, security, and core functionality:

  • Supabase auth session (HTTP-only cookie) — keeps merchants signed in to the dashboard.
  • Stripe.js / Checkout cookies (__stripe_mid, __stripe_sid, __stripe_orig_props) — set by Stripe during billing flows to prevent fraud and keep a single checkout session consistent.
  • Venqo widget session (venqo-visitor-id, venqo-cart-id) — stored in localStorage on a merchant's storefront so the assistant remembers the current conversation and cart across page loads for that shopper.
  • CSRF and security cookies — short-lived cookies used to protect form submissions and webhooks.
  • Consent preference (venqo-cookie-consent) — stores which cookie categories you accepted so we don't ask every visit.

3. Analytics (optional / future)

We may use product-analytics cookies to understand which features are used and to find bugs. As of this writing we do not ship with analytics enabled by default. If we introduce PostHog or a similar tool, the banner will ask for consent and will not load any third-party analytics script before you opt in.

4. Marketing (optional / future)

We do not currently set marketing cookies. If we add marketing pixels or ad-measurement tags, the banner will list them here and require explicit opt-in. We will never set marketing cookies on the shopper widget that runs inside a merchant's storefront.

5. Managing your preferences

Your consent choices are stored in your browser under venqo-cookie-consent. You can change them at any time by clearing your browser's site data for venqo.ai, which will re-show the banner on your next visit.

Essential cookies cannot be disabled because the Service will not function without them. Declining essential cookies effectively means not using the Service.

Most browsers also let you block or delete cookies directly. Doing so may log you out or degrade parts of the Service.

6. Changes

We will update this page whenever we add or remove a category of cookie. The "Last updated" date reflects the most recent change.
